Unconventional Places to Find a Job

In this day and age, there are many unconventional places to find a job, with the most popular being Craigslist. Although it doesn’t look like much at first, Craigslist is quickly becoming the hottest place on the internet to find cars, home rentals, roommates, and even jobs. Although younger job seekers may already know this, older job seekers (even those in their late 20s or early 30s) are not familiar with this avenue.

Craigslist is one of the most visited classified listing sites on the internet and it attracts many potential employer and employees. Although it is best known for hooking small business up with employees, you can find jobs from larger companies posted there as well. Many job blogs are even starting to include daily Craigslist job postings for their readership to check out.

If you work from home in any area, including as a writer, website developer, marketer, or graphic designer, you are sure to find several job postings on a daily basis. Since most employers receive hundreds of applications within just the first 24 hours, it is important to check early and check often, to keep from getting lost in the pack. It is also a good idea to customize your resume and cover letter for each job you find.

Although this is a great place to find employment, it is still the internet. As such, it is important that you are careful with your personal information, until you are positive that the employer is legitimate. Doing a quick Google search on the company or individual and asking around on forums should provide you with a good about of information to start with.

The Best Job Search Sites

Besides Craigslist, another great job search site is JobGoRound.com. This site, utilizing the Indeed job search engine, allows you to search all of the top job boards simultaneously. You simply perform one job search on JobGoRound, and it in turn searches Monster, CareerBuilder, and dozens of other of the best job search sites on the internet. This saves you untold hours of internet searching. It and craigslist are the only two job sites I bother going to these days. Give JobGoRound job search a shot and see for yourself how convenient it is.
