5 Signs Its Time For A New Job

How long have you been in your current job for? Has it become so normal to you, that you don’t even think about it anymore? You accept that this is life, it pays the bills and everyone has just to get up and get on with a job they don’t really care about? Do you hate your boss? Do you have mates at work? Do you enjoy what you actually do each day? There are some really obvious signs that you need a new job but others you can just accept as the norm, but you shouldn’t. If your job is not fulfilling you, then it’s time to do something about it. Here are a few signs you should not ignore:

You’re Unmotivated

Okay, so you go to work, you get your work done, but it’s a struggle. You drag yourself out of bed in the morning; you force yourself to sit at your desk and get through your to-do list. However, you find that, instead of aiming to go above and beyond, doing anything extra and working to your full potential, you are scraping by with the bare minimum. This is alright as a one-off, but if this is every day and this is your norm and you just can’t improve job satisfaction, then it’s time to get out. You need to be excited about something again, passionate, and driven. You spend far too much time in your job to be bored and disinterested, so you need to find something that motivates you.

You’re Still Doing The Same Thing

If you’ve worked in your role for a while, have you progressed at all since day one or are you still doing the same thing? If you haven’t been challenged to push your boundaries and accept new assignments or had the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, then could you be stuck? While it’s nice to feel comfortable and confident in what you’re doing, if you’re not moving forward in your career, then that could mean it’s either time to speak with your boss or find a new role that will allow you to expand your horizons.

You’re Always Stressed

Is your stomach always in knots? While a certain amount of stress is normal, and you might enjoy it, if you discover that you’re constantly feeling worried and nervous about work, thinking about it before you go to sleep at night and first thing in the morning then perhaps it’s time to see what else is out there and more suited to your needs.

You’re Irritable

Do you find yourself snapping at your loved ones? Even when you’re home from work, if you still feel uptight and irritable then perhaps it is your job making you feel this way. Your career can have a huge impact on how you feel outside of the office for better or for worse, so if you’re not sure then maybe it’s time to step back and have a look at how it’s making you feel.

You Can’t Remember the Last Time You Were Excited to Go to Work

Do you just take it for granted that Monday’s are rubbish, and you will never want to get up and go to work? That’s pretty normal, but what about once you are in work, can you remember the last time you got excited about working on a new project? If you can’t, then it really could be time for a change.
